Hi {{first_name}} -

In January, there was a major snowstorm across much of the central US (including Nashville, where I live). It was supposed to be the storm of the century, and it was pretty bad.

But the issue with the storm here in Nashville wasn’t the weather. It was the lack of preparation. The local government/power companies decided that they didn’t need to 10x the line workers in preparation for ice destroying the powerlines. Other cities put all their powerline workers on overtime and had thousands working at once to keep the power on.

For some reason, in Nashville, they decided that they would just wing it and expect the best, while not preparing for the worst. Needless to say, many people were without power for a week or more in 30-degree temperatures. It was a bad look.

But this got me thinking about GLP1. We are humming along, losing weight. Thinking we will keep seeing those exciting numbers on the scale every week…forever. And don’t get me wrong, it’s fun. It will last, right?

Until…..

  • The plateau.

  • The food noise creeps back.

  • The insurance coverage drops.

  • The 3-pound jump for no reason.

And then the panic sets in. Because, like most humans, you didn’t plan for the worst…which was really inevitable. Weight loss won’t be an ongoing downward trend. Maintenance might get tricky…even with the help of GLP1.

Even if you are actively losing right now, I want you to start thinking about what the long term looks like because you don’t build a house during a storm (or try to staff up your powerline workers during a storm, like Nashville).

You staff up before.

Those who do best long term on a GLP-1 aren’t the ones pushing hardest.
They’re the ones building the foundation early:

Support.
Perspective.
Muscle.
Realistic expectations.
Community.

They are the ones staffing up so they can be ready when the ice storm of life inevitably comes.

After three years on a GLP1, I am still learning what this looks like myself.

Next week is my 46th birthday. 50 is on the horizon. Menopause is approaching. And I am trying to staff up as best I can. The most important piece is this community, a group of us who are ready to commit to the long game.

If you’ve been wanting structure… support… and a sane approach to this journey, I’m doing something special to celebrate looking at life a bit differently this year.

I’ll share the details on Friday. So stay tuned!

What’s Happening This Week

This week on the podcast, I interviewed Dr. Aaron Hartman about how GLP-1 medications can support far more than weight loss, including many of those really hard-to-treat conditions like mast cell sensitivity-driven conditions and environmental toxin burden. This was such a fascinating conversation; I was so lucky that Dr. Hartman was willing to share this incredible knowledge.

I also interviewed my colleague, Lauren Harris-Pincus, all about the new 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the new upside-down pyramid, and whether you should care if you are on a GLP1.

Over on YouTube, I shared a video about how to choose a good GLP1 provider and how to pick the right electrolytes for your situation.

Thank you so much for being here! Be sure to check your email on Friday for a birthday announcement!
