Hi {{ first_name | default: there}}
Let’s talk about regain. Because I think many of us are afraid of backsliding.
The research is very clear on one thing:
When GLP-1 medications are stopped, a significant portion of the weight is often regained. Most people are expected to gain back about 80% in one year. Of course, there are outliers, but the narrative of “just change your lifestyle, and you’ll keep it off” is simply not true. (I speak from personal experience as someone who has stopped twice and gained it back twice, despite my healthy lifestyle.)
This happens, not because people are weak. Not because they “lost discipline.” But because biology fights against you and your body wants to return to somewhere it was comfortable.
When you stop, appetite comes back either with a roar or a little at a time, so you don’t even notice you are eating more. Since you are smaller, the number of calories you need is much lower, and if you lose muscle, it’s even less.
And if there was never a maintenance structure built underneath the medication, there’s nothing holding the weight in place.
This is where people get it wrong. Even I was guilty of this. But I stopped and gained it back…..fast.
Because I thought GLP-1 was the whole strategy.
It’s not.
It’s a tool, probably one you will need for life. But you will STILL need to work on maintenance.
When I look at people who maintain successfully, whether they stay on medication or not, they usually have three things in place:
Protein structure
Not random eating. Not guessing. A consistent daily amount of protein that protects lean mass and controls hunger.Muscle preservation
Strength training. Resistance. Something that helps maintain a healthy metabolism and fights against age-related muscle loss.Nervous system regulation
Because long-term success isn’t just about food, it’s about controlling our feelings and emotions that we often use food to cope with.
Stress, sleep, and emotional reactivity, these are going to determine what happens to your weight long-term.
When there isn’t a focus on these three pillars, people blame themselves for failing again.
The best way to stay focused is to get support. This is exactly why I built the membership the way I did, with a structured focus around these three pillars to support your LONG-TERM success, not just help you reach your short-term goals.
Because the goal isn’t just weight loss.
It’s learning to keep your results for life.

What’s Happening This Week
On the podcast, Beth Gerhart talked all about sustainable weight loss and how to achieve it. This was a great interview with lots of amazing tips.
I also interviewed Mariette Abrams about the connection between AI and GLP1. This was such a fascinating episode about how AI can be used to provide better support to GLP1 users.
Over on YouTube, I talked about whether electrolytes are a MUST for everyone on GLP1. I also shared my 3-year GLP1 story and why I am personally never getting off.
Thank you so much for being here! See you next week!
